"Hey! How's the new kit?" Kestrelkit mewed as he padded up to the nameless kit, "Have you given her a name yet?"
"No, not yet. Nothing seems to fit right." Darkflower sighed.
Kestrelkit bent down and sniffed the tiny she-kit. She lifted her little head and opened her eyes to find herself nose to nose with Kestrelkit. She lifted up her amazingly small paw and swiped the unsuspecting Kestrelkit on the nose.
"Ow!" he yowled. "That hurt. You should name her Bramblekit. She reminds me of the bramble bush I got stuck in earlier. And her paws are like bramble berries," he said while rubbing his nose with his paw.

Bramblekit woke to see that the sun had not yet risen, but the horizon was turning red meaning that it would rise soon.
She saw Kestrelkit at the entrance of the nursery watching the sunrise. She padded over to him and laid down next to him. She thought he looked kind of sad. "What's wrong?" she asked.
Kestrelkit jumped at her voice. "Huh wha? Oh, it's just you Bramblekit."
Bramblekit laughed. Then she asked again "What's wrong? You look sad."
"I'm more than six moons old now, and the leader still hasn't made me an apprentice. I don't think he ever will." Kestrelkit mewed miserably.

There he was. Brambleflower took a deep breath and then got up and walked over to Kestrelflight. I can't believe I'm doing this she thought. Over the past few days Brambleflower had decided she was going to tell Kestrelflight how she felt about him. They had spent a lot of time together, teaching each other their ways of hunting, and it seemed that just maybe, he might feel the same way about her.

Inspired by Arnold Böcklin's Self Portrait with Death Playing the Fiddle
It was with my first breath in my mother's arms after birth that I saw it. Saw, this skeletal creature, all toothpaste white bones but with a grey gloomy shadow constantly lingering over it. As two hollow eye sockets peered out of a skull into mine, a jaw swung open and it asked me "Are you ready?"
I wailed back in terror and this gruesome face, and my parents hurried to comfort and quiet me.
As I grew, I began to see the creature more, not just in the daylight hours where it always hung over my shoulder. It haunted my dreams relentlessly now, always asking
Chapter Five
POV: Lilacheart
I could hardly breathe. The pain was...painful. Wow, that sounds stupid. But I mean EXCRUCIATINGLY painful. Even while unconscious, the howls of Erasers and the sound of swords colliding with claws rang in my ears. I don't know how long it lasted. But after what felt like forever, the sounds began to die away, slowly. And then all was silent.
My eyes opened slightly. Fai was standing over my bed. It was dark. I knew I only had the energy to wake myself up because I was worried about everyone.
